Who's Healthier...Vegetarians or Meat Eaters?MYTH: Vegetarianism is a healthier lifestyle

LIE: Vegetarians are healthier and generally live longer lives than meat eaters.

TRUTH: Vegetarians by most standards are not healthier than meat eaters. The human body, its genetic makeup and memory, are designed for herb and meat eating. Only animal protein is a complete protein having all the amino acids. All other foods to one degree or another have incomplete amino acid profiles. The way around this for vegetarians is to mix and match different foods such as rice, beans, soy, lentils etc., to ascertain the complete amino profile.

Health & Fitness: The nutritional profile of food

Getting all amino acids is critical to health on every biological level thus wild game has been part of our anthropological roots from the genesis of man and actually has biblical roots. Amino acids carry nitrogen and having a positive nitrogen balance is critical for children to attain full height, muscle development throughout life and countless other biological needs. The real issue is whether or not conventionally grown livestock is smart to eat or not considering those animals are not free range, shot from birth to death with antibiotics, estrogen to mature faster, growth hormone and other drugs. The nutritional profile of these conventionally grown animals does not resemble anything close to the way God made them to be. The nutritional profile of the food (wild game, livestock, vegetation) our grandparents ate was far greater than what we see today—not even close. It should be noted as well that grass fed is no longer their diet but rather primarily grain and soybean. Grass fed cattle is high in omega 3 fat, highly anti-inflammatory. Conversely, because of diet, conventionally grown livestock have a high omega 6 fat profile which as discussed in earlier blogs, is highly inflammatory—not what you want for optimum health. Finally, I understand as well that there is also often a moral/emotional component to this topic and I’m certainly sensitive to it. With that in mind, for this article I’m simply addressing biological utility, respectful to all other ancillary aspects.

This is the real issue and the answer is to make wild game (venison, etc.) and organic, grass fed livestock part of your diet for optimum health and to minimize conventionally grown livestock and their by-products. For much more get my book The Truth: Claiming Your Birthright to Health’.
